Hi! Welcome to my blog.

I love cooking, I love food, and I love fitness. This blog is about combining all three in a balanced and healthful way.

As a kid and young teen, I had always been into fitness – always running around, always very athletic. I also loooved to eat. I never ate terribly but let’s just say I wasn’t counting the number of spaghetti strands on my plate! Food was fun and tasty and gave me energy for sports and exercise – so I ate it up.

It wasn’t until I began modeling when I quickly realized that I had to figure out a way to marry my “longtime love” with my new need to stay very fit. It was one thing to exercise; however, I also had to be conscious of what I put in my body. (As they say, staying in shape is 80 percent diet and 20 percent exercise.) So over the years I began developing recipes that did just that. This blog is an embodiment of those goals.

In my blog, The Leaner Approach, I focus on creating deliciously healthy original recipes that are (mostly) Gluten-Free and rich in lean protein…with a few “somewhat naughty” dessert options thrown in the mix. Did I mention I have a slight sweet tooth 🙂  I’m a firm believer in using all-natural foods that are sustainable, local and unprocessed, as I feel those types of ingredients provide the best nourishment for our bodies. Now I want to point out that this is not a bodybuilding recipe blog. Although many of the recipes on my blog can be used during competition training, I didn’t want it to be all about competition eating….we gotta have a little fun here too! These recipes are for people who are interested in taking a more wholesome approach to food consumption and want to learn about healthier ways to prepare items without having to sacrifice flavor.

So put your feet up and stay a while 🙂 Hopefully you will find my blog helpful, whether you are someone who is interested in a lifestyle change, a little cooking inspiration, or are just in need of some HEALTHY LIP-SMACKING EATS!!!
